Throughout the pandemic, we heard from workers, really all across the city, that they were nervous, that they were scared, that they wanted a safe workplace. And this is all happening in the third-largest city in the country, which is in the middle of a crime wave. There’s a question of whether police officers will show up to work. The city and the police union have faced off in court. So right now in Chicago, we are in the midst of a showdown between the mayor, Lori Lightfoot, and the police union.
